What exactly is a graphic design thesis project? For me, it was an 18 month project, where I used design to bridge the knowledge gap between global current events and the American public. I designed a poster every day for a year, and published them each day to the project website. In 2010, 65% of 18 to 29 year olds got their news online, eclipsing television for the first time. I leveraged this trend and based the project online and promoted it with social media. The project reached over 180,000 viewers in 106 countries. The thesis won first place in the student category and judge’s choice in the SF AIGA 2011 Cause/Affect competition.
